At a time The Gambia is highly in need if more lucrative foreign and direct investments to promote and enhance economic development, a Gambiasara-born business magnate, Muhamed Dukureh, on 28 April 2007 opened a talk-of-the-town beauty mall called Central Beauty shop.

Strategically located at FIB House along the busy Kairaba Avenue, Central Beauty has in store a coterie of products ranging from make-ups for hair, to cosmetics, perfumes, clothing and household and kitchen appliances.

Speaking at the official opening of the shop, the President of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr Bai Matarr Drammeh, said it was heart-warming to see young Gambian entrepreneurs spearheading such an investment. “This kind of investments is really encouraging and it shows that there is a lot of dynamism in the private sector,” he said.

While commending the proprietor of Central Beauty for the venture, Mr Drammeh assured him of the Chamber’s full and continued support.

The GCCI boss made it crystal clear that the GCCI represents both small, medium and large-scale businesses, noting that they would not relent in helping business people in the country, irrespective of the size of their enterprises, to actualise their dreams.

For his part, Muhamed Dukureh, the proprietor of Central Beauty, thanked the government and the Gambian leader for creating and sustaining a favourable investment climate in The Gambia.
He said Central Beauty is here to ease the Gambian public of the daunting task of travelling further afield to get fashion products and household appliances.

He noted that all their products would be sold at pocket friendly rates, adding that every month they would introduce new products in the shop.
Musa Drammeh, Secretary General of the Serahuli Community, and Aziz Willan, an entertainment and media consultant, spoke also at the groundbreaking occasion.

After the cutting of the ribbon, drinks and surprise gifts were distributed to the guests.
