Justice Paul Elevated to Appeal Court Judge

Justice MA Paul, a high court judge had been elevated as an appeal court judge with effect from last week according to the judicial secretary Ngui Mboob Janneh.

According to Mrs. Mboob Janneh, the appointment of Justice MA Paul to the Court of Appeal is expected to alleviate the constraints the Court of Appeal faces. She said Justice Paul’s appointment had been endorsed but he has not yet been formally sworn.
She also added that Justice Agim had been elevated to the president of the Court of Appeal since a month ago.

Mrs. Mboob Janneh further called on Gambians to take up the Bench so that we can see more Gambian judges at the high court and court of appeal. She said there is presently one Gambian judge, namely Justice Haddy C. Roche.

In a similar development, magistrate Kayode H. Ola Jubutu has been posted to Masakonko as travelling magistrate for the Lower River Region and North Bank Region, while magistrate Sheriff B. Tabally is posted at Janjanbureh as travelling magistrate for the Central River Region.

In another development, five Cadis who are appointed to the Cadi Appeal Court would be sworn in on Monday 13th May 2007. They are Omar Secka as chairman, Saikou Omar Darboe, Serigne Momodou Yunusa Kah, Ousman Jah, and Masonah Kah as members.
