Thursday, May 17, 2007

The community of Sinchu Baliya in North Bank recently inaugurated two stand taps worth about D17,000.

The project was funded by Ellen Manneh, a German volunteer with Christian Children’s Fund (CCF).

Speaking at the ceremony held at the village ground, the president of the Women ‘Degoo’ Association, Mrs. Kumba Barry, expressed appreciation for the gesture and commended Ms Ellen Manneh for providing the taps for the women in the village.

“Water is very important but we women in this village find it difficult to get water as taps are so limited in this area, and we normally make long queue to get water from the tap,” she said, adding that the DeGoo’ women group of Sinchu Baliya would continue to pray for the success of Ms Ellen Manneh,

She also urged other foreign volunteers to emulate Ms Ellen.

For his part, the BAC boss, Mr. Gaye, thanked Mrs. Ellen and assured her that BAC would continue to support her foundation and any project that would contribute in the development of the people of Western Division and The Gambia.
