The Pan African Association Gambia Chapter, in collaboration with the National Youth Council celebrated the African Liberation Day, which coincided with the birthday of President Yahya Jammeh.

The commemoration was characterised by a march pass from the Traffic Lights to the Alliance Franco Gambienne, where a symposium on the theme: After 200 years of the abolition of the slave trade, is Africa free? was convened.

Commenting on the day, Foday Sillah, Auditor General of Youth OAU and member of the Pan-African Association, lauded the strides made by African governments on the socio-economic condition of their people.

Mr. Sillah used the opportunity to commend President Jammeh for his believe in the ideals of Pan-Africanism and for cherishing the quest for African unity. “He has been taking part in search for peace for some African countries and other countries outside Africa,” he said.

He congratulated the President on behalf of the association on his birthday and prayed for his continuous well-being as he steers the affairs of the country. He then welcomed African Americans to the forthcoming Miss Black USA in the country.
