At the end of a two-day intensive training on the communication planning for Integrated Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Management (ICAM) held at the Baobab Holiday Resort on Saturday, participants from both the fields of the environment and the media have agreed to form a network geared towards sensitizing the general public on having a positive mind in tackling environmental issues.
The two day deliberations spearheaded by a consultant, Mr. Brima Fall, communications officer for WAMER in Senegal, introduced participants to some of the technicalities involved in drawing up a communication plan and accessing information about the environment.
On the other hand, both sides of the participants were each given an in-depth understanding as to how they should operate in their different areas of work.
In his closing remarks at the end of the workshop, the Director of Wild Life and Parks, Dr Alimamy Camara, challenged the participants to share the information gained at the workshop with their colleagues.
“This is just the beginning,” he said, adding that national development requires the full participation of all and sundry.
