Comrade Ebou Madi Sillah Remembered

The first anniversary of Comrade Ebou Madi Sillah’s death was recently observed at the Alliance Franco-Gambienne with a memorial art exhibition.

Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary of State for Tourism and Culture, Mrs. Angela Colley, described the late Ebou Madi Sillah as a great man who departed this world when he was at his prime. She said:“It is sad that Comrade Ebou Madi Sillah died just as he was reaching the pinnacle of his success.”

According to her, Comrade Ebou Madi Sillah’s death is a loss that is still being felt by all Gambians, directly or indirectly.

She disclosed that it was President Yahya Jammeh who commissioned Comrade Ebou Madi Sillah’s last major works, which include the five monuments, depicting various aspects of Gambian life, at Old Cape Road, Stink Corner, Bakau and Burusubi round about.
