Influential Cattle Dealer in the Dock

Monday, May 7, 2007

Gibi Bah, an influential cattle dealer, is once again at the centre of allegation of stealing over 100 heads of cattle.

Bah, a resident of Kafuta village in Kombo East, was earlier last year charged with an alleged offence of stealing 191 heads of cattle from diverse places and people. But when his alleged offence was read and interpreted to him, he pleaded not guilty.

The case, latest in a series of allegations of cattle rustling against Bah, could not however proceed last week as scheduled since Cpl.629 Saine was yet to familiarise himself with the case file handed over to him by ASP Badjie currently on a peace-keeping mission in the southern Sudanese region of Darfur.

The case is expected to resume before magistrate Assan Martin on May 21.
