Abdoulie Drammeh, a youth of Busumbala Village was on Tuesday June 5th arraigned before Magistrate EF Mbaye of Brikama Magistrates’ Court charged with obtaining money by false pretence contrary to Section 288 of the criminal code laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of the offense, Abdoulie Drammeh in the month of March 2007 unlawfully obtained D37,000 (thirty-seven thousand) and a motor benz marked MB100 from Muhammed Konteh of Serrekunda in exchange for a piece of land situated at Busumbala.

However, Muhammed Konteh, the complainant in his testimony told the court that in March 2007 the accused sold a 60 X 25 meters piece of land to him at a sum of thirty-seven thousand dalasis plus a motor benz.

According to his testimony when he embarked on the development of the land, the accused’s mother one day confronted him and asked him to leave the place.

According to him, the accused has given him a receipt. When Magistrate Mbaye asked for the car, the Police prosecutor said he was unable to bring it because the battery of the car had gone down so it could not be started.

Magistrate Mbaye then adjourned the case to Monday June 18th for continuation.
