Access Bank The Gambia, on Saturday June 2, organised a training session on Business Registration and Credit, through their Access Bank Gambia Women’s Self-Help Cooperative and Women Empowerment programme at a ceremony held at the presentation room of the Bank.
The training, which is the first of a series of training programmes scheduled to take place this year, and also part of Access Bank’s Gender Empowerment Programme, in collaboration with the Gambia Women’s Self-Help Cooperative, gathered over forty business women who are, engaged in various business segments.
According to a press release from Access Bank, Gambia Ltd, the objectives of replicating in The Gambia, the Gender Empowerment Programme currently being implemented by Access Plc, Nigeria, through partnership with the IFC of the World Bank, provided Nigeria with US$30 Million for this programme. The release stated that Access Bank (Gambia) Ltd, is also working towards the finalisation of a similar programme for The Gambia.
The release further noted that topics covered during the course of the training included, steps/ procedures in the registration of women’s business and loan repayments in credit delivery (principles and rationale).
The bank further revealed that the sessions were conducted in local languages. Momodou E Jammeh, a Lecturer, University of The Gambia, Department of Economics and Management, Salieu Taal, Legal Practitioner and Omar Jasseh, Assistant General Manager, Access Bank ( Gambia) Ltd, where the Resource Persons.
Mrs. Ida Faye Hydara, Executive Director, Women’s Bureau presided over the sessions.
