Ismaila Sambou, Secretary of State for Local Government and Lands has said that the total revenue collected by the Mansakonko Area Council from January 2005 to 31st May 2007 stands at D10,948,578.71.
Responding to a question from Pa Jallow, National Assembly member for Jarra Central on how much revenue was collected by the Mansakonko Area Council from January 2005 to date, SoS Sambou gave the breakdown as follows; from January 1 to 31 December 2005-D4,508,182.69, from January 1 to 31 December 2006- D4,766,822.95, and from January 1 to December 31 2007- D1,673,573.07, respectively.
On the prescribed number of students sponsored by the Mansakonko Area Council at senior secondary schools and tertiary institutions, SoS Sambou noted that 10 students are sponsored in senior secondary schools, 20 in Upper Basic Schools, 10 in Basic Cycle School and 1 staff Secretary at GTTI.
On the major expenditure between 2005 and 2006 by the Mansakonko Area Council, SoS Sambou said the major areas of expenditure within this period by the Council are personal emolument (salaries), supply and service, vehicle maintenance and fuel, health and social service, development projects, request from communities, contribution to tesito. He added that there are fifty-one permanent staff who were engaged up to December 2006 by the council.
