Dr Hassan Azadeh, Medical Director of Bafrow, a national Non-Government Organisation has confirmed that, his organisation aims to complement government efforts in the provision of good healthcare service for the people of The Gambia.
Speaking to reporters recenty at his office during the official inauguration of the new Bafrow Medical Centre, in Serrekunda, Dr Azadeh said, their clinics provide 24-hour clinical services in all the major centres.
According to him, an operating theatre for obslgyanecological operations is available in their centres. He then noted that they have lab technicians and trained registered nurses, who have outstanding experience in thier works and also attend patients as expected of them.
“I also conduct health talks in mosques to raise more awareness on diseases like hypertention, diabetes, among others. These diseases are very common nowadays, due to the oily food we consume. These are silent diseases which show no sign when they are minimal, but can be very dangerous.
We also focus on all important health care services which include, a check-up for hypotention, diabetes, clinical care, monitoring and control of worrisome illnesses, maternal and child care health service, including immunization, among others,” he said.
Dr Azadeh, however, noted that it is among their plans to extend the facility of the Serekunda Centre in order to cater for more people, considering the existing population of Serrekunda and its surrounding areas within KSMD.
