The Secretary of State for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Mr. Crispin Grey-Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. Sara Grey-Johnson, left Banjul over the weekend for the Republic of China on Taiwan.
Secy Johnson’s five-day visit from 30th July to 3rd August 2007 is said to be at the invitation of the government of the Republic of China on Taiwan.
During the visit Secy Johnson will visit the Taiwanese ministry of Education, Hsinchu Science park administration, Academia Sinica and National Taipei University of Technology. He will also visit Kenting national park and Taipei 101 building.
A press release from the Taiwanese embassy in Banjul has revealed that Mr. James CF Huang, Minister of foreign Affairs of Taiwan, will host a dinner in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. He will also present Mr. Grey-Johnson a medal in appreciation of his staunch support for Taiwan.
Secy Grey-Johnson, a holder of BA in Political Science and French from McGill University as well as MA in Human Resources Development from George Washington University, has formerly served as Ambassador Extraordinary, Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA, Brazil and Venezuela and also High Commissioner to Canada.
