Ex-UDP Candidate Dissatisfied

Monday, August 20, 2007

The UDP-sponsored candidate in the Kombo East bye-election could not hide his exasperation and dissatisfaction over the manner their case is being handled by the prosecution.

Lamin R. Darboe was not at all full of praises for prosecutor 413 Sanyang when he explicitly told the court last week that 413 Sanyang was inordinately delaying their trial and something must be ‘definitely’ done about the state of affairs.

Mr. Darboe made his feelings known when Sanyang once again applied for the adjournment of his and co-accused persons’ trial over charges of assault.

According to Darboe, in a show of despair, their trial has been dragging for a year or so without any tangible result.

It would be recalled that Lamin R. Darboe, Doudou Cassa Jaata, Jerreh Fatty, Buba Darboe and Maimuna Jobarteh were rounded up by the police shortly after the results were announced in the Kombo East by-elections a year ago.
