Present in The Gambia for over a century, CFAO, a leading company in the retail sector for major automobile brands, has embarked on a massive campaign for the protection of the environment.
To achieve this goal, a huge number of billboards have been disseminated within the Greater Banjul Area in order to bring the message to people’s doorsteps.
In a chat with the Daily Observer, Cyril Gilger, Managing Director of CFAO-Gambia, spoke about his company’s commitment to venture into actions that can set the path for sustainable development. ‘‘We believe that we have a role to play in raising people’s awareness on issues relating to the environment,’’ he said.
According to him, through messages like ‘‘Set Setal for beautiful Gambia’’, ‘‘Keep the area clean’’, CFAO aims to, not only urge Gambians to move towards attitudinal change, but also put the environment at the centre of the development process. As such, he went on to say that their messages are inextricably in line with the spirit of Operation Clean the Nation.
He further noted that, as the oldest company in the country, CFAO will continue to take the lead in the development field. ‘‘We really expect that the result of this campaign will be susceptible of making the message to reach people in different situations,’’ he indicated.
Similarly, he added that CFAO is taking the same stance on health and traffic issues. Messages, such as ‘‘Over speeding is fatal’’ and ‘‘Beware of AIDS: it knows no friends’’ constitute another giant step taken by the company. He then emphasised the need to explore new avenues, as CFAO is set to embrace different domains.
