As Fight Against TB Rages On

The National Assembly member for Wuli East, Hon. Bekai Camara, has challenged his colleagues to ensure that enough fund is allocated to the fight against TB and other debilitating diseases.

According to Hon. Camara, the fight against tuberculosis requires concerted efforts since the disease is an airborne one. He added that suspected cases of TB should be tested and treatment would be given at the early stage of the disease if necessary.

He made these remarks in a recent workshop organized to sensitize National Assembly members on TB.

Hon. Camara noted that the treatment of the disease is free of charge and takes relatively shorter period of time, describing health as a prerequisite for development.

Also speaking at the sensitization workshop, Chief Public Health Officer, Mr. Batch Samba Conteh, said ‘our track-record in TB control is so far impressive in that, as a nation, we were able to make treatment of TB free for all irrespective of nationality’.

He added that with the participation of all and sundry in the fight against TB, the battle could be won.
