On the 19th July 2007 GAMCEL donated 3 computers and 27 T-Shirts to the Muslim Senior Secondary School Computer Club as part of their contribution towards the ongoing Internet set-up drive by the computer club. The presentation was witnessed by Mr. Lamin Fofana, the head of delegation, and some staff from GAMCEL.

Mr. Sulayman Bun Njie, the Principal of Muslim Senior Secondary School, thanked GAMCEL for their donation and he told the representatives that the computers will be taken good care of, and will help to tackle the problem of computer illiteracy in the school and in the country at large. He further said there are 20 computers in the school computer lab, which are not enough for a populated school like Muslim Senior Secondary School but that with these computers, the school will manage to help and fight computer illiteracy among students and beyond. Finally he thanked GAMCEL for their contribution towards promoting ‘IT’ in the school and the country at large. He also thanked the computer club for the hard work they have been doing in the school and he commended the club as the best club in the school.

The club coordinator, Mr. Abdulai Sesay, and head of Department for computer studies at MSSS, thanked GAMCEL for their gift and promised that the computers will be put into good use and care. He further thanked the members of the club for their hard work. He said that the club is not only linking with schools in The Gambia but outside the country. The computers will therefore help to make communication easier with the use of the internet facilities.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr. Lamin Fofana, head of the delegation from GAMCEL said this is a link that they are forming between GAMCEL and the computer club, and that he is looking forward to its sustainability. There are a lot of things they may have for the club in future, he promised. He said GAMCEL is always there to help the youth and to facility easy communication in the country. Finally he thanked the school for building this link with them and he advised students to make the best use of the computers and take very good care of them.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Ousman. B. Janneh, the chairman of the Muslim Senior Secondary School Computer Club, and the program was chaired by Mr. Allen Bangura, teacher and member of the computer club.
