Gambian Youngsters in Reading Academy

Two players of The Gambia U-17 team, Alagie Bun Gaye of Gambia Ports Authority FC and Edrissa Jarra alias Ronaldo of Real De Banjul, would soon leave for Reading FC Academy in the English premiership.

According to Kabba Ceesay, Gambian FIFA Players’ Agent and the main man behind this very important move, the two Gambian players and a Ghanaian player, Balla Karim, were accepted by Reading Academy.

Mr Ceesay revealed that we wanted to help the Gambia U-20 players but it seems that all the players are tied up with other agents and he can’t interfere with their process.

“We decide to turn to the grassroots and help the U-17 players for a long term purpose,” he told Points port.

He added that sending young players in Academies in Europe would help Gambian Football as it was the same process big countries in Africa applied in the past.

“Adopting players in Europe would be different from those in our leagues and that would have a good impact in our national teams,” he pointed out.

It could be recalled that both Alagie Bun Gaye and Edrissa Jarra alias Ronaldo were part of The Gambia U-17 team that won the four Nations tournament organised by the Ivorian Government to mark their 47th anniversary of nationhood.
