Monday, September 3, 2007

Just six days before the most awaited African Nations Cup qualifiers game against Algeria in Banjul, Gambian foreign based players invited have started arriving in the country.

The first batch to arrive on the Gambian shores last night are Mustapha Jarju alias Tubabo and Assan Jatta better known as Bierhoff both from As Lierse in Belgian second Division, Edrissa Sonko of  Wallsall FC in England and Goalkeeper Musa Bajaha of Virkjo FC in Sweden.

The remaining 13 players are expected to arrive in Banjul on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

It could be recalled that 17 foreign based players were called by the Gambia Football Association for Sunday crucial game against Algeria in Banjul.

The Scorpions would be looking for their first qualification to an African Nations Cup on Sunday. But to achieve that long awaited dream they need to beat Algeria by three goal margin and hope Cape Verde would upset Guinea in Conakry.

Both Guinea and Algeria have 8 points while Gambia and Cape Verde collected each 5 points.
