Ex-Senegalese Soldier Jailed

Salifu Jallow an ex-Senegalese Soldier was on Wednesday convicted and sentenced to six months imprisonment with hard labour by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

The Senegalese Ex-soldier was convicted on his own plea of guilty to the charged of being in possession of (8) lives rounds of amunation and other military equipment.

According to the facts of the case as adduced by the police prosecutor, it all happened on the 3rd October 2008 at LaminVillage when the convict was involved in a fatal accident. He said during the investigation in to the accident, cannabis was found with the convict and further investigation in to the convict house led to the recovery of the (8) lives of rounds of ammunition. He added that when the convict was question about the ammunition he admitted that he failed to surrender to the Senegalese authority after his Military service.

The convict was residing in the country since 1981.
