Reports reaching the Daily Observer indicate that Samba Bah, the former secretary of state for the Interior, who also served at one time as the former Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), passed away yesterday morning.
He was laid to rest the same day in Sukuta Sabiji, in Kombo North, Western Region.
As a career intelligence officer, the late Samba Bah started his career in the Gambia Police Forces GPF) He was among those who set up the then National Security Service NSS ) which was later changed to what we now called the National Intelligence Agency NIA). In that capacity, he was at one time the deputy director of the then NSS.
From 1994 to 1998, he also served as the first Director General of the NIA in the Second Republic of The Gambia. He was later redeployed to the diplomatic service as the Gambian Consular at The Gambian Embassy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:
