Lamin M Dibba, a deputy editor-in-chief at the Daily Observer, in the early hours of Wednesday morning left for Accra, Ghana, to attend a weeklong training course on “Freedom and responsibility” at the Ghana Institute Press Centre.

The course is sponsored by the International Institute for Journalism (IIJ) of INWENJ, Capacity Building International, based in Germany.
The course content, according to Mr Dibba, would cover a wide range of topics including accuracy and fairness, protection of source, conflict of interest, and so on.

“My course content will also include conflict reporting, covering elections and interviews,” he said, thanking the management of the Observer Company, especially its managing director, for the support given to him.

“Egocentrism will take its course, if I should fail to thank my co-editors for allowing me to go for the course,” Dibba declared. He also thanked the Gambia Press Union for nominating him.
