Schools For Gambia, a charitable organisation based in the UK and Germany, on Tuesday, made a donation to a number of various categories of people, including the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH), which benefited from medical items.

Various other schools benefited from a large quantity of educational materials. The items also included sewing machines, shoes and clothings, which were distributed to  some other people in the provinces.

According to Mrs Winterton,  head of the organisation and founder, her organisation was formed 18 years back. She said that since its inception, they have been sponsoring hospitals and schools in Gambian communities.
She further said that this initiative came when she visited The Gambia with her family and went to the provinces.

“We are proud of The Gambia government as they are doing a lot for the Gambian people,” she noted.
She also added that they are motivated by the peaceful environment and hospitality of the Gambian people.

Receiving the items on behalf of the SoS for Health and Social Welfare, Abdoulie Bah of the Central Medical store thanked the organisation for the gesture and assured the donors that the materials would be deliver as expected.

He emphasised  that the donated items will be put into good use and will be distributed to the various earmarked hospitals across the country.
