GOVI Resource Centre for the Blind Organises Party

Thursday, October 9, 2008
The students of GOVI Resource Centre for the Blind last Tuesday held a party by courtesy of their Muslim friends in Pakistan.

The party according to the head teacher of the school, Mr. Sarjo Baginka, will no doubt encourage students in their learning. “The importance of the party for the children cannot be over-emphasised,” he noted.

Mr. Foday Wadda, Adviser to GOVI and also the Organisation’s Relief Committee Chairperson, said the entertainment would give an opportunity to children to interact, socialise and make friends. He used the opportunity to thank Muslim Aid UK and Muslim Aid Australia for the support they give to GOVI and Daira Sheikh in the course of Ramadan. He said that the funds from the two donors were used to buy over 40 bags of sugar and rice to their members across the country. He also hailed other institutions such as SIC, Takaful Insurance, Imam Ratib, among others for also supporting the Gambia Organisation for Visually Impaired during the month of Ramadan.

Babucarr Jallow, a student, thanked the Pakistani friends for the party. “We really enjoyed the party”. He used the forum to advise his friends to take their learning seriously.

Mr. Musa Mbye Public Relations Officer of GOVI expressed similar sentiments.
