JFP receives gifts

Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and secretary of state for Women’s Affairs, who is also the chairperson of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace (JPF) on Friday received in her office at State House, Richard Shih, the Taiwanese ambassador to The Gambia.

The purpose of the ambassador’s visit to State House was to present 216 white canes and 250 wheel chairs to the vice president on behalf of the Jammeh Foundation for Peace.

In receiving the donated items, Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, who is also the chairperson of JFP took the opportunity, on behalf of President Jammeh, Madam  Zineb Jammeh, the first lady and the beneficiaries of JFP to thank the Republic of Taiwan for the magnanimous gesture.

“Taiwan has touched the hearts and minds of every sector in The Gambia. Taiwan is a true friend of The Gambia and we value our friendship and cooperation,” she remarked.
“We have received a lot of assistance from Taiwan and this has complemented the efforts of President Jammeh, the Department of State for Health and Social Welfare and all the sectors in the country,” VP Njie-Saidy observed.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Shih said the items were donated by the Pushian Educational Foundation for the Republic of Taiwan.
He added that this was the fifth time he was presenting gifts to the JFP on behalf of the association.

This point was reiterated by the deputy director of JFP, Sulayman Badjie, who stated that the donation was a clear manifestation of the good bilateral relationship and cooperation between The Gambia and Taiwan.

Bai Matarr Drammeh, a board member of JFP, expressed delight with the gesture.  He described Taiwan as a true and genuine friend of The Gambia.

Mr Drammeh also assured the donors that the materials will be distributed to all areas in the country especially to areas where they are most needed.
