Security Firm Owner Pleads Guilty

Joseph Sambou, proprietor of Kalamba Security Company, has pleaded guilty before Senior Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for failing to register or renew his company.

He was arraigned along with the company’s Chief Executive Officer Sainey Jarju who denied the charge. According to Mr Jarju, he is not the proprietor of the company.

The charge sheet stated that Joseph Sambou and Sainey Jarju on or about 2006, 2007 and 2008 failed to register or renew their company’s registration named Kalamba Security Company with the Registrar of Companies.

Following his plea of guilty, Joseph Sambou was convicted and the sentence was deferred until 10thNovember 2008.

According to the facts of the case as narrated by the police prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Fadara, the Attorney General’s Chambers went into an investigation concerning the registration of security companies.

He added that during their investigation they found that the company did not pay registration fee for three years. He further narrated that the AG Chambers wrote to the IGP and insttructed him to take action against the said company.
