Elton to Launch Lucrative Package for Commercial Drivers

Friday, February 8, 2008

With effect from Friday, 8 February 2008, Commercial car drivers frequently purchasing fuel from Elton Oasis filling stations around The Gambia stand to benefit from a new programme by Elton Oasis, which will provide health insurance of up to D100, 000.00.

The new package, dubbed Japaleh Kafoo, is tailored to enable commercial drivers to receive financial assistance in the event of an unfortunate accident on the road.  Elton would provide the families of drivers who lose their lives in automobile accidents compensation of up to D100, 000.00 as well as pay disability to drivers who are injured on the job and unable to work.  The disability insurance would come in the form of a weekly payment of D250 for a period not exceeding a year, after a three-week deferral. The programme is part of an effort to “sensitise, inform and engage” commercial drivers on responsible driving.

In addition to the afore-mentioned benefits the Japaleh Kafoo package would also assist drivers paralysed in accidents by contributing D100, 000.00 to any professional medical assistance that becomes necessary as a result of job-related paralysis.

The insurance policy would also cover the payment of medical bills of up to D100, 000.00 for injuries sustained as a result of an accident.

All of these benefits, this paper has gathered, are subject to some limitations as stipulated in the insurance policy issued by the Elton Oasis Company.  A condition for qualification to become a member of the programme, drivers must purchase their fuel only at Elton Oasis stations.

Ms. Awa Jagne, Brand and Category Manager for Elton Oasis, explained that Elton Oasis in the spirit of innovation and care wishes to contribute to the welfare of commercial drivers by providing “personal accident insurance” for each and every commercial car driver purchasing fuel at any Elton Oasis at Elton Oasis locations throughout the country.
