Gambian coaches can do it!

Editor,

I just want to join in this discussion for the acquisition of a foreign coach, and in so doing I want to say having a foreign coach is a good, but also think at the same time that we have qualified Gambian coaches.

If my memory serves me right, two of them Sang Ndong and Peter Bonu Johnson have the highest level licence like any foreign coach anywhere in the world. Simply put if we do not have a foreign coach the Gambian coaches can get the job done. Save for winning the U17 Africa Cup of Nations, Gambian coaches have fared extremely well with great results dating back to 1978 when the current Sports Minister, Mass Axi Gye led The Gambia to Bissau and Liberia respectively as Assistant Coach. Sang Ndong led Gambia to a scoreless tie against a world cup quarter finalist in 2003. Bonu Johnson's boys showed off in Canada, what Gambian Football was all about. So it can be done.

What is important is for all to rally behind the GFA and give them the support they need to get us to South Africa via Angola. The Gambian Coaches can do it, YES THEY CAN! NEVER UNDERSETIMATE THE DETERMINATION OF A GAMBIAN!
