The Gambian football lovers have been reassured of a foreign coach who will take charge of the Scorpions in their quest for a place in South Africa 2010 World Cup finals.

With two weeks to the qualifier campaign, the Gambian fans are still waiting to know who will lead the Scorpions in the fast-track qualifier campaign.

Peter Bonu Johnson has been named as caretaker coach while the Gambia Football Association seeks a foreign coach to take charge, but with time running out, many believe the former Under 20 coach may be at the reins for the Liberia game.

However, the first vice-president of The Gambia Football Association, Major-General Lang Tombong Tamba, in an interview The Point Sports, revealed that the Gambia Football Association will exploit all avenues to secure a foreign coach for the Scorpions, hence no need no need for panic.

He also revealed that plans are underway to stage a friendly match for the team before the Liberia tie, which is scheduled for June 1.

The Gambia Football Association has recently presented to the department of state for Youth and Sports, a Belgian coach in the person of Paul Put. However, the sports department, to the surprise of many fans, showed little interest in signing the Belgian who was very keen for Scorpions job.
