Yusupha Jassey, a representative from the Fisheries Department, presided over the inauguration of a fishing centres at Gunjur Sanbuyang Mandikuleya in the Kombo South district of the Western Division recently.
In his inaugural statement, Mr. Jassey said that the new fishing centre would create employment opportunities for many youths in the area. He expressed their readiness in working hand in glove with the management of the newly established fishing centre. He urged the people of the area to make good use of the fishing centre.
For his part, the Deputy Imam of Gunjur Central Mosque, Muhammed Lamin Touray expressed appreciation to the government for establishing it in Gunjur Sanbuyang Mandikuleya. He added that the fishing centre would contribute to the socio-economic development of The Gambia. He further commended the government of The Gambia for building the feeder road down to the fishing centre.
