Sanyang resident formally charged

Seedy Sanyang, a resident of Sanyang village in Kombo South, has been formally charged with stealing a he-goat and pieces of red timber.

Seedy recently appeared before magistrate John Njie at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court in Western Region where he was charged with theft.

The details of the case, as stated in court, had it that Seedy, in April of 2008, stole a D900 worth of red timber as well as a he-goat valued at D5000. The goat and the timber were said to be properties of one Sheriffo Bojang and Foday Saidy of Sanyang village.

In another development, Seedy was also charged with another count of theft; contrary to section 252 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 10, Vol.VI of the Laws of The Gambia.

He was charged with stealing a door frame valued at D560; allegations he refutes.

He’s in the meantime given bail in the sum of D10,000 and should get a surety who must be a Gambian.

He is expected back in court on 1 July 2008 and the Inspector General of Police will be represented by Cpl.1320.
