Casamance Rebels Returns to mile 2, As Appeal Case Deferred

Nine MFDC rebels from the southern Senegalese region of casamance will now have to wait until October when their appeal case is expected to be heard.

The nine appellants on Wednesday appear before Justice Naceesay Salla-Wadda at the Banjul High Court, but however their appeal case could not proceed as the language interpreter was said to be indisposed.

The nine MFDC appellants are appealing against their conviction and sentences by the Banjul Magistrates Court ranging from one year to four years.

It could be recall that the nine MFDC rebels from the southern Senegalese region of Casamance where tried in the Gambia on the offences of spying, terrorism, receiving stolen property, unlawful possession of Gambian documents, unlawful entering into the country amongst others.

They were since been returned to mile 2state central prison.

Case at length adjourned to 15thOctober.
