Horse riding gains momentum

Horse riding is gaining momentum as many Gambian youths are eking their living from it.  This enterprise has won the admiration of thousands of tourist during their vacation in The Gambia.

Recently, the Daily Observer caught up with Filly Jamanka, owner of four horses at Badala Park. Mr Jamanka has six young people working for him as horse riders.

According to him, he got into this fascinating venture in 1993 . During the tourist season, Mr Jamanka said, they charge D150.00 per hour, but after the adjustment of the license to D9,000.00 per annum by the Gambia Tourism Authority, they now charge D400.00 per hour. He called on the youths to engage in meaningful ventures.
