Car ‘thief’ pleads not guilty

One Jatta Baldeh has pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing a vehicle, when the case resumed at the Bundung Magistrates Court presided over by Senior Magistrate Kumba Sillah-Camara.

Jatta Baldeh was charged with the offence of stealing a motor vehicle, registration number BJL 1229 C, valued at D35,000 being the property of Mr Samba Camara on or about 24th April, 2008, at Manjai Kunda.

According to the owner, Samba Camara, who is into the business of textiles and properties, the accused person demanded a vehicle from him to give his friend but he replied him that a vehicle was given to him by someone and was under maintenance.
The plaintiff further said that he later gave the vehicle to the accused to drive as a taxi.

Senior Magistrate KS Camara then adjourned the case to September 1, for continuation of the proceedings.
