A series of stunning upsets brought the 2008 Gamtel sponsored FA Cup championship alive in the third round stages.
Except the league champions, Wallidan, who stamped their supremacy on Interior with a 2-1 victory on Saturday, results from other weekend fixtures were just puzzling as sequence of big names were humbled.
Real de Banjul lost suffered a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Kaira Silo on Friday, while SK East United ease past Gamtel with a 1-0 win on the same day to set up an enticing quarter-final tie against Samger who edged past Armed Forces after a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the Independence Stadium on Saturday.
Armed Forces and Samger drew goalless in the regulation and the second runners up in the just concluded league season were only confirmed the lucky winners after eighteen penalty kicks.
Earlier on Thursday, Gambia Ports Authority came from behind to beat Bakau United 5-4 in a post-match spot-kick to keep alive their dream of defending the title that is currently under their belt.
Ebrima Kinteh fired Bakau United ahead in the 26th minute only for substitute Ebrima Drammeh to convert a stunning free-kick in the 82nd minute to force the tie to penalties.
Steve Biko and Seaview also progressed after both sides edged past their opponents.
Seaview’s impressive goalkeeper Badou Ceesay saved two penalties to earn his side a 4-3 win against mighty Hawks after a goalless draw in the regulation at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium, while Steve Biko emerged a 2-1 winners against Brikama United at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
