Wednesday, August 27, 2008

One Jawo Jallow, an accused person, has told the Brikama Magistrates’ Court that he never killed his brother. He made this statement while he was arraigned before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a manslaughter charge.

According to police prosecutor, ASP Joof, the accused told the police that his brother was in love with his wife and that he warned him severally but to no avail.

He added that when they travelled to the border with Cassamance, they confronted each other. It is this confrontation, he added, that is believed to have caused the death of his brother also known as Jawo Jallow.

When the charge sheet was read and interpreted to the accused in a local language he claimed to understand, he pleaded not guilty.

The accused further maintained that he never killed his brother, and neither did he fight with him.

The accused was later send to Mile II Central Prison pending the outcome of the case.

The case was then adjourned until 15th September 2008.
