Wallidan’s quest for double on track

Thursday, August 28, 2008
League champions Wallidan thrashed Seaview 3-1 yesterday to progress to the semi-final of the Gamtel sponsored FA Cup championship. Goals from George Cole, Muhammed Koma and Yunusa Jallow helped Wallidan avenge their league defeat by Seaview and set up and enticing semi-final tie against Ports Authority on Sunday.

George Cole converted Muhammed Koma’s weighted cross to fire Wallidan ahead as early as 15th minute, but Seaview levelled the score two minutes later.

Seaview’s Buba Conteh was brought down by Wallidan’s Muhammed Davies and Samsideen Badjie made no mistake to convert the spot kick in the 17th minutes to put his side on track.

However, the Blue Boys regained the lead in the 52nd minute with Muhammed Koma’s low shot and Yunusa Jallow’s 28th minute strike ended any doubt on how the evening would end.

Ports Authority beat Flamemins 2-0 in another quarter-final tie at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. Jibou Drammeh scored a goal in each half to keep alive the Ferry Boys’ hope of defending the domestic title.

Abdoulie Jatta’s 60th minute strike was enough for Steve Biko to overcome Kaira Silo at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium. The Bakau side will now meet in the semi-final, the winner in Samger - SK East United match, which will be played today at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium.
