Gambia Under-20 and Ports Authority versatile midfielder, Abdourahman Dampha, has signed a two-year contract with Algeria’s Mouloudia Club de Saida following a two week trial, reveals Gambiasports.gm.

Abdourahman, who has also been on trial trips to Norway, told gambiasports.gm that the chance to sign up in Algeria came when he met his agent during Gambia’s game against Mauritania in the recently introduced African Nations Championship for home-based players.

“I met up with a Mauritanian agent called Mohammed during the Gambia’s game against Mauritania in the qualifiers for the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

“After watching me play in Nouakchott he met me after the game and told me that he was interested in helping me get a professional club.

“At that point in time I was already in talks to sign for Sandefjord of Norway, so I showed no interest in the Mauritanian agent’s offer.

“Unfortunately the coach who was trying to get me into Sandefjord was fired and with his departure went my chances too.

“But as fate would have it The Gambia was again paired up with Mauritania in the African Youth Championship for Under-20s and when we went to play in Nouakchott I was again approached by the same agent, Mohamed.

“Having lost the Sandefjord opportunity I decided to give Mohamed a chance and in a very short time he got me a deal at Mouloudia.”

The Gambian Under-20 midfielder said even though his biggest ambition remains playing in Europe he was happy with the Algerian deal.
