Tourisphere: Europe to Gambia circumnavigation

Wednesday, August 6, 2008
According to Justin Glow "the ultimate global circumnavigation is to circle the world by motorcycle."  This will allow you to be part of the environment you are passing through, not looking at it from inside a car, bus or train, but to be out in the wind.  This you will be opportune to stop your movement and visit distant places as you can see during your riding as you want to pass them.

This is what Peter Howe, Briton, a friend of Abdoullahi Mboob, who made a surprised visit to Banjul last April did when he and his immediate family, Katthy (wife) and Simeon Howe (son) rode BMW motorbikes from Kent-UK to Banjul-the Gambia in a journey they spent nine days on the road riding.

Peter is one of the regular tourists to the Gambia he visits the country twice every year since nine years back. In his last visit in year 2007, he promised to ride a motorbike all the way from UK to the Gambia. Peter wanted to match up with people like Gregory Frazier the only motorcyclist in the world to have ridden solo four times around the globe.

After completing his last ride, in year 2002, he officially quit the long rides, having seen the ends of the earth twice as often as any other known motorcycle adventurer has done.  Frazier concentrates on what he called "boring office work," some customized guiding and helping other novice adventurers learn the ropes of global travel.

As understood that tourism is the short term movement of people to destination outside the abodes where they normally stay and earn their living-work or go about their activities during the stay at or in there different destination. Most tourists to any of the Africa nations always like surprises people especially their pals in any destination they are familiar with. Peter is not just a tourist to the Gambia but a good friend of the Gambia. He and his immediate family are very used to North Bank Region in the Gambia that he has a project and presently building a clinic.

Traveling by road (motorbike) is a great adventure that some wealthy people have often traveled to different distant parts of the world by road to see great things and learn new languages, to experience new cultures and traditions, or to taste new cuisine.

Traveling from Europe to Africa by motorbike has a lot of advantages as tourists are looking for an adventure when they travel and know more destinations. Like Peter Howe and his family, they left Kent in UK via the route to Spain. From Spain they entered Morocco and rode through the desert to Mauritania.  From this French-Arab country they faced the road that saw them through to St Louis, Senegal. Direct from Senegal, they joined the ferry to Banjul the Gambia. It is of less stress since they rode all day only and rest at night throughout their nine days on the road before they reach Gambia.

Be a grate adventure; travel round within the country with motorbike if not outside your country to learn and discover more new things that has never been opened to you before. Make a stop at each and every village, town or important places for photographs. Walk around at wherever you stop and see as many things as never expected.
