Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on 19th September 2008 gave Ablie Ngum, proprietor of Teranga Beach Club, twenty-one days to pay D73, 500 with cost of D500 to the plaintiff, Lawyer Gomez, in a judgement delivered in favour of the plaintiff. The ultimatum also attracted an interest rate of 4% until the judgement debt is liquidated.

Lawyer Gomez sued the defendant Ablie Ngum claiming D32, 000 being an amount the plaintiff lent the defendant about eight months ago in order to enable the defendant cover a cheque he issued to a third party without sufficient funds in his bank. The plaintiff also claimed the sum of D23.500, being the balance of legal fees due to the plaintiff from the defendant for legal services rendered.

The sum of D18, 000 was claimed by the plaintiff, being legal fees for four meetings attended by the plaintiff at the defendant’s request at his place of business known as Teranga Beach Club.
