It was expected to proceed with the continuation of the cross-examination of the prosecution witness by defence but the defence counsel Lamin Camara was reported to be indisposed.

But both the Director of Public Prosecutions and his witness were all present in court.

On count one, he is alleged to have received sometime in 2002 the sum of Euro 15,000 from one Gerrard Nuss, in order to appoint him into the Consular Service of The Gambia.

On count two, he is alleged to have received sometime in 2002 the total sum of 160,000 France equivalent to 24,391 Euros from one Gerrard Nuss, on the pretext that the payment is required for his appointment into the Consular Services of The Gambia.

It was further alleged on count three that the accused Willy Joof between 2004 and 2005 converted to his personal use, the sum of Euro 15,000 paid into the account of Delegation of the Republic of The Gambia to UNESCO.

Others alleged offences include conspiracy to committed a felony, and abuse of office.

The case has been adjourned until 26thSeptember 2008.
