Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh Takes over Babylon Case

The Babylon trial case which has been dragging for 6 months has now been handed over to Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

On the resumption of the case, the state counsel, Miss Wood announced that the state wants to substitute the charge against the accused persons.

She also informed the court that the State has to bring a charge sheet against 55 accused persons, stating that the state have now dropped charges of 39 accused persons out of 94.

However the 94 were all paraded at the court before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh on Tuesday 23rdSeptember 2008 in readiness for trial. The case was then adjourned to the 7thof October 2008 for mention so that the 55 accused persons can take new pleas to the fresh charges against them.

The accused persons have been standing trial on various count charges since March 2008.
