Hello and a warm welcome to yet another piquant edition of Personality of the Week, your weekly column aimed at bringing prominent Gambian top notches and achievers into the limelight.

As stated in our first edition, this column has and will continue to bring you profiles of the giants in today’s Gambia. In our today’s edition, we bring you the profile of a man who is one of those behind the success stories of Gamcel, The Gambia’s first and one of the leading GSM services providers in the country.

Indeed some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness trusted upon them but for this man, Kebba Bojang, Senior Manager Sales and marketing Gamcel, he has achieved greatness.

There is no denying the fact that in this rapidly changing world, having an executive officer who can come up with innovative and comprehensive marketing strategies could do a lot to help catapult a company to a better stead in the ever increasing competitive market. An exponent of such mark of performance in office today is the calm and down to earth Kebba Bojang, Senior Manager, Sales and marketing, Gamcel.

His progress to greatness, distinguished by the admirable quality of dedication to duty is exceptional. He is an imaginative and innovative character who always likes to try new things.

Due to his commitment, dedication and dynamism after few years of work, Bojang quickly rose to the rank of Senior Manager Sales and marketing at Gamcel, one of Gambia’s top most Telecommunication companies. Rotating from one section of the company to another had made Bojang to become versatile, effective, efficient and well-seasoned Marketer.

A social worker by nature, Bojang, happily married to a lovely, caring and supportive wife has been in the forefront in helping the poor, the needy and the suffering in the country.

Son of a renowned Islamic scholar the late Alhagi Wagie Bojang, former Alkalo of Sanyang village, Kebba Bojang was born on 16thMay 1968 in Sanyang in Kombo South, in Western Region.

He set forth his educational pilgrimage in Sanyang in 1978 and then proceeded to the AhmadiyaHigh School in Basse where he spent only two years and moved to NursratHigh School in Bundung where he obtained his O’ Levels Certificate in 1990. From there he proceeded to Gambia High School for his Advanced Levels Certificate in 1991, and even before the results are out in 1992, he enrolled into the Gambia College to pursue a Higher Teachers Certificate (HTC) which he obtained in 1994. At the GambiaCollege he was the president of the Students Union.

From there he posted to his former alma mater, Gambia High School as a teacher of Mathematics and English Language for only one academic year before proceeding to University of Delhi in India where obtained an honours degree in Commerce. Kebba Bojang also did a post graduate diploma in Business and Industry Management, a diploma in Banking and also diploma in Agric Science. He returned to The Gambia in 2000 and went back to teach for one year at NjabaKundaSeniorSecondary School in Badibou, North Bank Region. In October 2002 he joined Gamcel as Marketing Officer. As has been his wish Kebba Bojang is now the Senior Manager, Marketing at Gamcel. Since he assumed the mantle of his current position, Mr Bojang has assiduously contributed towards the astronomic success of the country’s first telecom outfit. He is also currently the chairman of the Village Development Committee (VDC) of Sanyang.

Apart from his work at Gamcel Mr. Bojang has his own private businesses. He owns a seaside resort called the Jungle Beach Resort in his native village, Sanyang where he’s currently employing ten people and it’s part of his think out to expand to a sort of a hotel.
