Sukuta Lad Convicted

Bundung Magistrates’ court presided over by Magistrate Kumba Sillah Camara, on 22ndSeptember 2008 convicted and sentenced one Amadou Touray to two years, six months imprisonment.

According to the particulars of offence the convict was charged with two criminal offences.On count one, on or about 31stday of August 2008, at Sukuta, the convict entered the compound of one Jai Jatta with intent to annoy and intimidate and count (2)on or about 31stAugust 2008, at Sukuta. The convict damaged 5 glass doors and 3 glass windows valued D3170 the property of Jai Jatta. The convict pleaded guilty to both charges preferred against him.

According to the facts as narrated by the prosecutor ASP Camara, it happened on the 31stAugust 2008, at Sukuta, the complainant left her compound for work. On her way back to her compound as narrated by the prosecutor she said she heard people shouting “he is destroying the house.” Upon her arrival at her compound she saw the convict running away. She went and checked the damaged glasses. He further stated that the case was reported to the Bakoteh police, adding that the convict was searched and arrested and when he was interrogated the convict admitted the fact as narrated by the prosecution.

The convict was sentenced to 1 year imprisonment without option of a fine for count (1) and count (2) the convict was sentenced to a term of 1 year 6 monthsimprisonment, without option, and the convictwas also ordered to pay the compensation of D3170 to the complainant in default to serve another 6 months imprisonment
