Scorpions’ two-goal hero in Gambia’s 3-0 thrashing of Liberia last month has vowed to recover from the injury he is currently nursing before Gambia’s October 11 cracker against Senegal in the final match of first round qualifying of the 2010 joint World Cup and Nations qualifiers.
Athletic striker Njogu Demba who plies his trade with the Norwegian champions, SK Brann, has been on the sideline for the past weeks due to groin injury. Demba missed a couple of games for SK Brann, including the team’s 2-0 home win against the Spanish powerhouse Deportivo La Corona in the first round of the UEFA Cup on September 18.
However, the powerful striker, who remains the number one threat in Gambia’s front line, is optimistic of early return.
“I will still miss one more league game against Lyn Oslo on Sunday, September 28, but hopefully I will be back for our UEFA Cup return leg against Deportivo La Corona on Thursday, October 2, meaning I will be fit for Senegal match” Demba, who is very much aware of the importance of the October 11 fixture told Observer Sports in a telephone interview.
