A five-day workshop on bednet treatment ended this week at Gunjur Health Centre. The workshop was organised by the nurses at Gunjur Health Centre and brought together 45 participants from across Kombo South.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Buba Jatta, a nurse at the centre, said the workshop was organised to teach participants how to treat bednets with insecticide which prevent people from being bitten by mosquitoes. This provides protection from malaria infection particularly for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women and children. He disclosed that bednets are very significant in the prevention of malaria and urged the participants to make good use of the knowledge gained from the workshop. He said they could do this by not only putting it into practice but by sharing it with their friends and communities.

For his part, Lamin Saidy commended the health centre for their efforts in combating malaria. He said that the knowledge gained from the workshop must be properly utalised.
