Two Rivals in FA Cup Final

It is another battle in The Gambia Football Association Gamtel sponsored FA Cup, after a heavy contest in the 2007/08 league season. The two arch arrivals that were vying for the league, Samger and Wallidan, will again battle it out again in the GFA Gamtel sponsored FA cup after both teams sailed through from the semi-finals.

Wallidan knocked out the 2006\07 FA Cup holders GPA with a 1-0 victory. GPA’s only hope of silverware this season was the FA Cup after they were relegated to the second division league after a poor performance in the domestic league.

The Academy Boys of Samger FC beat Steve Biko FC by 1-0to make itto thefinal. Samger mighttake revenge against rivals Wallidan, after a heavy contest inthisyear’s league which saw Wallidan crowned the 2007/08 GFA league champions. They will be looking for the double this year when they meet the Academy Boys.

The final is slated for Sunday 7thof September 2008 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 4.30pm.
