Security Officers Recall Following Carnegie Mineral Boss’ Escape

Security officers, namely the Police, Customs and National Intelligence Agency (NIA) who are posted between Barra and Amdalaye, North Bank Region were last Friday recalled by their respective headquarters as investigations mounted into the escape of Charlie Northfield, the erstwhile Managing Director of Carnegie Mineral Company.

According to reliable sources, the affected officials are expected to be questioned as to whether Mr. Northfield  escaped through their area of postings.

Meanwhile the said officials are to be replaced by their colleagues in the service.

It could be recalled that the Foroyaa Newspaper edition of 3-4 September 2008 quoted the Daily Mail that Mr. Charlie Northfield arrived in UK on the 2nd of September. The paper was quoted as saying that Mr. Northfield was smuggled out of the country ahead of his trial by security expert Martin MacGowan-Scanlon through Senegal.
