Absconding Man Attracts D140,000 Bail

Cadet Inspector Mballow on 13th January, 2009, rose before Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court to inform the court that Musa Sidibeh, who had earlier absconded, was recently arrested on bench warrant.

According to the charge sheet, the accused, Musa Sidibeh, on or about the month of October, 2006, at Serekunda obtained 150 tie and dye clothes from one Binta Conteh at the cost of D800 each which totaled to D120, 000 on the pretext that the said order was from the State House.

His counsel applied to the court to restore the bail granted to the accused previously.

The application was granted and as a result, Magistrate Mbackeh granted the accused bail in the sum of D140, 000 or the provision of a Gambian surety with a landed property, the title deed of which should be deposited to the Assistant Registrar. The accused should also report to the police every Friday.
