The women’s wing of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at-The Gambia, recently held their fourth annual national conference at the Baitus Salam Mosque in Tallinding.
The annual convention brought together 321 participants from different parts of The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. Addressing the convention, Baba F Trawally, the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia, said the 4th national conference is special, as it has fallen within the first year of the second century of Khilafat Ahmadiyya. “Therefore, everyone of you must think about her duties to the Jama’at during this period,” he said.
Amir Trawally spoke at length on the importance of raising the younger generation in line with the true values of Islam. He said that the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW) has said that every religion has distinctive features and the distinctive feature of Islam is modesty, noting that modesty is nothing but good. He advised Muslims to be modest, as according to him, modesty is part of faith and faith cannot be complete without modesty. He urged the ladies of the Jamaat to inculcate this quality in the Nasirat (girls). As Ahmadi women, he added, “you must be exemplary in observing the veil because the Promised Messiah has come to re-establish the Sunnah and everyone of you is indeed a soldier in this struggle and every act of yours, should be a manifestation of the teachings of the Holy Quran”.
He added that as women and girls are ambassadors of the Jama’at, they should have in their hearts love for the country and always strive for things that contribute to nation building. He urged them to fill their environment with the air of righteousness and make sure every moment of their live is in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Qu’ran and the Sunnah of Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW).
He then advised the women to continuously remember Huzur, Hazart Khalifatul Masih V (ATBA) and The Gambia in their prayers. Sister Ndey Mariam Correa-Bah, praised the Almighty Allah for enabling them to witness the 4th national conference. She said as ladies of the Jama’at, they should be humble and always practice the teaching of the Holy Quran so as to be righteous. She advised women to be involved in and contribute to all areas of national development.
For her part, Sister Isatou K Trawally spoke on the importance of Khilafat. She quoted a verse from the Holy Quran in Chapter 24:56 saying “Allah has promised those among you who believe and do good works, that he shall surely make them successors on earth as he made successors from works, those who were before them and that he will surely establish for them their religion which he has chosen for them and that he will surely give them in exchange security and peace after their fear”. Sister Mariam FS Drammeh, spoke on the topic “ Obedience to Nizam-e-Jamaat.” She said obedience is the essence of religion and it is the reality of Islam. Without obedience, she said, there is no Islam and there cannot be Islam without obedience. According to her, the very name Islam means submission and there cannot be any submission without obedience.
She said as Ahmadi ladies, if they are obedient, then a brighter future will be built because according to the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW), paradise lies under the feet of the mother. Other speakers at the Ijtema included Sister Fatou BK Sonko and Sister Mubashra Saeed.
