The supposed felons are: Joseph Okeke alias Charles or Doctor, Nanso Mbasoh, Onuwa Ibaim, Nonso Odowa, Arinze Izuchukwu, Pius Patrick, and a Gambian living in Kololi.

The 71-year old Australian had been held captive for nine days, from the 1st to the 9th of February.

According to the Police, Mr. Justin Liebig was reportedly kept in a toilet, tied to a chair with his mouth covered up by the felons at their Kololi residence.

As narrated by Commissioner Yankuba Sonko, the Police Crime Management Coordinator, the felons had an agreement with Justin Liebig to set up an establishment to help the needy in The Gambia and had been in touch with him since last year. He revealed that Justin Liebig had sent them over 45, 000 Euros in almost a year’s period.

He added that they where able to convince him to visit The Gambia, keeping up a pretence that he should come over to check on their project.

He said that upon his arrival on the 1st of February he was received at the airport by three Nigerians who took him to their hide-out in Kololi that became his prison for the nine fateful days.

He said Justin Liebig was threatened and forced to call his family back in Australia who sent him 5,000 Euros, and Awa Touray was hired to withdraw the money for them on promise that she will have half the amount. The family of the victim reported the matter to the Australian Embassy in South Africa who informed the police in The Gambia.

Meanwhile the case is said tohave been adjourned to the 19th February 2009.
